We went to a new restaurant yesterday, and because I'd had a small, healthy breakfast, I was really hungry at lunch time. I lived in France, and yes they walk, but they don't run. They don't play sports, ride bikes, and the gym scene there is non-existent, especially for women. When I would ride my bike down the street, the men would holler at us because it was so unusual to see women who were "sportif". By contrast Americans tend to build more muscle mass which contributes to overall mass structure, and then, we also tend to accumulate more fat as well. I think part of it is particularly in the portion sizes. American portions are about bigger, better. But I disagree with some comments you made. One of my grandmothers is French, and she has spoken English for most of her life, but her accent is still strong. It was rude to have made that comment about the french author. And i disagree about having to go to the gym. That is not necessary.
